DESCRIPTION:	Are you at a loss to find board members with the right expertise to serve your organization?  This session will help you determine what kind of members you need as well as how to locate and recruit these individuals.  Additionally, you will learn ways to keep your members interested and focused on your organization's needs.

CONTENT:	This session will focus on helping executive directors and board members to pay attention to the importance of building and keeping a focused board of directors.  Too often, we find individuals to serve on our boards without paying attention to the areas of expertise that we need or to the needs of the organization. Learners will have an opportunity to take an introspective look at their current board makeup and determine what areas they need to focus on.  

	Additionally, learners will be given some specific tools for contacting and recruiting potential board members.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:	Participants will be able to determine specific areas of need for board membership.  

	Participants will learn how to keep board members interested and focused on the mission of the organization.

Additionally, the presenter has over seventeen years experience in working with non-profit boards of directors, so much information will come from personal experience.
